The senior manager for Safeguarding and Quality Practice will then notify the Director of Safeguarding and Quality practice who will escalate to the Director for Young People’s Services and to the Executive Director of Youth Impact where appropriate. [...] Where the concern is received via telephone, the recipient must listen to the concern and note down factual details of the call as soon as possible during the call, advise the caller that their concern will be passed onto The Children’s Society's Safeguarding and Quality Practice Team and take the caller’s contact details. [...] If the concerns present an immediate threat to the safety and welfare of the individual, employees must take care not to put themselves at risk, and to seek the assistance of the police. [...] The meeting aims must be to: • assess and understand risks • agree a plan to locate the child or young person • identify actions to reduce the likelihood of the child or young person going missing in the future • ask the network about potential disruption activity (refer to the glossary of terms for a definition) that may recover the child or prevent future missing episodes. [...] Consideration must be given to the possibility that sharing information about the concerns with the child’s parents/carers may increase the risk to the child, and it may therefore not be appropriate to inform the parents/carers at the referral stage.
