This short report argues against the spending cuts to disability services, adult social care and disability benefits being enacted by central and local government. Almost every local authority has made cuts to its social care services in the past few years, and these cuts have had a significant impact on the lives of people with a learning disability and their families. While local authorities blame the government and the government blames local authorities, the people who lose out are those who need the services that are being cut.
This document is intended to give the information needed to make local authorities see the reality of the cuts they are making, and to urge them to protect services for people with a learning disability in next year’s budget.
