Job Outline: Senior Officer Policy - Reports to: Director Policy & Implementation

Job Purpose: As a key member of the ADASS central team you will have an important role in the development and delivery of aspects of the Business Plan, providing important and timely research, evidence and insight to develop ADASS policy positions, responses to Government consultations and briefings and presentations for ADASS Trustees, Priority Leads and Joint Chief Executives. [...] The postholder will be expected to work independently to develop and lead aspects of policy work whilst also working in a collaborative way with the ADASS team, ADASS regions and wider membership as well as government officials, NHSE and partner organisations, ensuring that ADASS’s views are well represented, and the Association builds its capacity and ability to influence, and to support its memb. [...] Maintaining support, engagement and commitment to the development and improvement of social care from core partners (LGA, Care Providers, NHSE, DHSC & CQC) and encouraging the alignment and sharing of resources, soft intelligence and a contribution to the growth of awareness of adult social care and its essential contribution to the economy and wellbeing of all citizens. [...] Working across the ADASS team and with the priority, enabling and regional leads to share transferable policy and practice, understand the implementation challenges for local authorities and explore ways to address these and to maximise communication and effectiveness. [...] • Awareness of media and presentational issues, and ability to work with politicians and media professionals to shape and project credible public positions • Commitment to personal and professional development • Self-supporting and able to work independently whilst also being able to be a key team member • Able to manage a very broad portfolio • Demonstrable commitment to EDI and to ADASS’s values.
