In accordance with 20 CFR 422.406(b)(1), the Commissioner of Social Security gives notice of Social Security Ruling 96-2p. This Ruling explains terms used in the Social Security Administration regulations on evaluating medical opinions concerning when treating source medical opinions are entitled to controlling weight, and clarifies how the policy is applied.
